Do-In

Do-In, or Tao Yin (also know as Taoist yoga) is an approach to health utilizing specific body positions and meridian point stimulation to influence Qi or Ki flow throughout the body.  The purpose of Do-In exercise is to create energetic balance between the internal and external environment.  When the body is in harmony, in and of itself and with nature, a person can experience profound mental and physical strength and clarity.  Do-In practices are individualized for specific conditions of imbalance, but can also be used for long term mind/body maintenance.

Do-In is know as a gentle approach to self-massage.  Techniques used are stretching, massaging, and thumb pressure (shiatsu) of specific meridian points.  This approach understands the body as a bio-electrical or energetic system.  Removing energy blockages, restoring depleted energy, and aiding in the flow of energy to specific areas can result in a variety of effects.  Do-In can be used to treat a common cold, aid in labor and delivery, alleviate chronic pain, address mental health concerns such as depression and anxiety, and open the mind/body to transcendent/spiritual experiences.

We incorporate Do-In into our practice in order to give our clients a most active role in their own healing.  We feel that when an individual releases fear and takes a powerful role in their own health, the results of any healing experiences are more poignant and longer lasting.  Our aim is to provide therapeutic and educational services.  Do-In is a way to empower oneself with aspects of an ancient healing tradition.
